IB Mathematics: Analysis and Approaches SL/HL
Mathematics: Analysis and Approaches (AA) is designed for students who enjoy exploring mathematics through algebra, calculus, and analytical thinking. This course focuses on developing strong mathematical reasoning and problem-solving skills, emphasizing theoretical understanding over practical application.
Core Topics (SL & HL):
Number and Algebra
Arithmetic sequences, exponents, logarithms, binomial theorem, complex numbers (HL)
Functions
Domain/range, transformations, inverse/reciprocal functions, composition, modeling
Geometry and Trigonometry
Trigonometric identities, 3D geometry, circular functions, vectors (in 2D and 3D for HL)
Statistics and Probability
Data representation, distributions, regression, probability distributions (HL includes conditional probability and Bayes' theorem)
Calculus
Limits, derivatives, integration, differential equations (HL includes more complex functions and techniques)
