IB Mathematics: Applications and Interpretations SL/HL
Mathematics: Applications and Interpretation (AI) is designed for students who are interested in applying mathematics to real-world contexts and using technology as a key tool in problem-solving. This course emphasizes mathematical modeling, statistics, and data analysis, making it ideal for students aiming for social sciences, natural sciences, statistics, business, psychology, or design-related university courses.
Core Topics (SL & HL):
Number and Algebra
Approximations, financial mathematics, indices/logarithms, sequences
Functions
Modelling, graphs, types of functions (linear, exponential, etc.)
Geometry and Trigonometry
Shape and space, trigonometric models, 3D geometry
Statistics and Probability
Data collection, statistical analysis, distributions, hypothesis testing (more advanced in HL)
Calculus
Rates of change, numerical methods, basic differentiation and integration (more extensive in HL)
